New Red5, lagging.

Uwe Pfeifer
Hi all!

I have a question. I set up Red5 and a flowplayer. I tried different players but I have this lag always. When streaming to twitch the problem is fixed, so I think the only reason can be Red5 itself.
Can anyone help me and tell me, how I could fix this lag?

Look here if you want to see how the lag looks:

Re: New Red5, lagging.

Rajdeep Rath
Sounds like a client side buffer issue to me. Are you using a non zero buffer on client side ? I have used 1.0.7 very recently and didn't face any such issue. If you try to use zero buffer to reduce latency you will end up loosing video frames (dropped) and will give you the effect that you described.

Re: New Red5, lagging.

Rajdeep Rath

unless you changed the default values you shouldnt need to tinker with those settings for one or two streams.

1. Try the Player i showed once and see if you have Same issue.

2. Ensure your client has sufficient bandwidth to send and receive the stream.

3. Ensure your server has sufficient bandwidth for your bitrate.

4. Try to reproduce the issue locally using localhost , running red5 locally instead of using a public server and IP.
