localhost vs ip address

Another question from this newbie

I have got my app working if I use localhost as my server:
rtmp://localhost

if I change it to rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx then it stop working. I know I
got to reconfig it somewhere, but I don't know where I should look.

Please help

There's a text file with a brief introduction to Red5 under doc directory.
Read it first. It's good to read about Jetty and Tomcat to clarify what
deployment in Java world means in general, by the way.

that config file is the only place.  Next make sure that the firewall on the host has the correct ports open.  After all of this, make sure you can connect to those ports through telnet.  good luck.
